Motherhood Support Group for Birthing Professionals and Mental Health Professionals of Young Children
Starting Wednesday October 25, 2017 at 6:30-8:00pm
4 Week Course
Are you a mental health therapist or a birthing professional, often providing support for motherhood but wondering where do I get support? Are you a bit overwhelmed with motherhood, but concerned about reaching out as you don’t know where to turn? Is motherhood not exactly what you thought it would be? Is daily life a little more on the “just trying to survive” instead of thriving? When I became a mom, I knew it would be hard, but had no idea just how hard it would be to raise young kids. As a therapist, I wanted a space that understood both the struggles of motherhood but also the role that I had professionally. That is why I decided to create a group for those who are in a similar position.
This stage of life is difficult and hard. Providing for others in this stage of life is difficult too. I think it is important to take time for yourself, so you are providing the best care to your clients as well.
In this 4 week class, we will be exploring all things motherhood. We will explore what type of mom you want to be (what are some of your beliefs and values around parenthood), what are the barriers to you being the mom you want and need to be. We will begin to explore all the other areas of your life that make it a bit complicated. In addition, we will also spent some time talking about how to help your child with their own emotions. We will explore how to move you from surviving to thriving in motherhood. Essentially, finding ways to embrace the messiness of motherhood.
This group is for you if you are a mom with young kids (birth to age 5), are a professional within the birthing community or therapist and feel like you want to explore your role as a mom a bit deeper and learn a few helpful strategies along the way. Please note we will be meeting for 4 weeks Wednesday evenings beginning 10/25/17. There will need to be a minimum of 5 people to run the group. No children please, but infants are welcome.
If you are interested in the group, please email Jessica Fowler, LCSW at email@example.com. There will be a brief screening process to ensure that the group appropriate for each member.
